The defunct Wonders of Life Pavilion getting a new purpose

Disney announced plans to revitalize the defunct Wonders of Life pavilion which has sat abandoned since 2007. The new pavilion will feature interactive experiences, Disney characters, and entertainment under the theme of a futuristic city. The opening date will be prior to Epcot’s 50th anniversary.

The former Odyssey pavilion will soon be transformed into a preview hub called, “Experience Center” where models of Epcot’s transformation project can be viewed through interactive exhibits.

Disney is also changing the way you enter Epcot with new pathways, new gardens, and a new fountain that looks more like the original fountain from the 1980s with a crystal sculpture in the center. In fact, the inspiration for the new entrance pays homage to the original design of Epcot’s entrance in general. The Leave A Legacy monuments will be moved outside the park’s entrance. I always thought it looked like a cemetery so I’m very excited about that.

Other projects coming to Epcot:

  • Guardians of the Galaxy-themed roller coaster in Future World

  • Epcot Forever, a 2019 limited-time nighttime experience over World Showcase Lagoon set to classic Epcot tunes, followed by an all-new nighttime spectactular debuting in 2020

  • Space-themed table-service restaurant adjacent to Mission: SPACE

  • Remy's Ratatouille Adventure attraction in the France pavilion, patterned after the number-one family attraction at Disneyland Paris

  • New China pavilion Circle-Vision 360 film

  • New Cananda pavilion Circle-Vision 360 film

  • A new Signature Dining experience coming to the Japan pavilion
