Today: Disney World Introduces a Half-Day Ticket

New Half-Day Ticket Offer for Walt Disney World Resort

New Half-Day Ticket Offer for Walt Disney World Resort

Recently we have seen Disney take measures to better control crowd levels throughout the year at Walt Disney World. For example, the introduction of date-based ticket pricing and special hotel offers. Today, Disney introduced the Mid-Day Ticket which will allow a considerable discount to those who don’t mind waiting until noon to enter the Theme Parks.

What You Need To Know

This ticket cannot be combined with a resort package. You would need to purchase your room and tickets separately. If you have questions about this, please contact me and I can explain the difference between a room-only reservation and a package reservation. The biggest difference is that room-only reservations do not include package entitlements like the option to add one of the Disney Dining Plans.

You will be able to link and manage both, the hotel reservation and your tickets in your My Disney Experience account however.

The Park Hopper and Park Hopper+ options are available as add-on features, at additional cost. These add-ons will begin at noon of the selected day.

FastPass+: Those who have a Disney Resort booking receive a 60-day FastPass+ booking window (+ length of stay) with this ticket.

This is a limited-time offer valid for start dates through December 15, 2019.

Available Options and Pricing

  • 2-Day Mid-Day Magic Ticket: Valid for admission after 12 p.m. 2-day Mid-Day Magic Tickets are available from $88 per day plus tax (from $176 total plus tax) and expire four (4) days after the selected start date.

  • 3-Day Mid-Day Magic Ticket: Valid for admission to after 12 p.m. 3-day Mid-Day Magic tickets are available from $84 per day plus tax (from $252 total plus tax) and expire five (5) days after the selected start date.

  • 4-Day Mid-Day Magic Ticket: Valid for admission after 12 p.m. 4-day Mid-Day Magic tickets are available from $79 per day plus tax (from $316 total plus tax) and expire seven (7) days after the selected start date.

This option works best if you’re looking for an opportunity to start your morning at a leisurely pace, to enjoy other early-morning activities such as Disney Springs, the pool, golf etc.

Disney World Offers Lower Priced Ticket

Disney World offers a new, discounted 4-day Theme Park ticket for 2019

Disney World offers a new, discounted 4-day Theme Park ticket for 2019

Beginning January 18, 2019 Walt Disney World will introduce a new, lower-priced 4-Day Theme Park Ticket, offering admission to one Theme Park per day. The 4-Park Magic Ticket will allow guests to visit each of the four Walt Disney World Theme Parks over a four day period at a discounted price.

Is this an Actual Discount on Walt Disney World Tickets?

Yes. The discount over a regular-priced 4-day Magic Your Way Base ticket ranges from $2 per ticket, per day to as much as $17 per ticket, per day. The deepest discounts are in the months of February and March and late May.

For example:

A Four Day Magic Your Way Base Ticket on May 23 will cost an adult (age 10+) $443. A 4-Day Magic Value Ticket will cost $356, a savings of $87.

How is the 4-Day Magic Value Ticket Different from a 4-Day Base Ticket?

This is a ticket-only offer, meaning you’ll have to purchase your hotel room and ticket separately. Not a problem since both will be linked in your My Disney Experience account. You can still make FastPasses 60-days in advance as long as you hold a Disney World resort hotel reservation.

A regular-priced 4-day Base Ticket allows you to choose which parks you would like to visit. If you wanted to visit Magic Kingdom twice and Epcot twice, you can do that.

But the 4-day Magic Value ticket is one admission to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park; you cannot make repeat visits to the same park on this ticket.

The 4-Day Magic Value Ticket must be paid for in full at time of purchase, and is non refundable once purchased. When tickets are purchased as part of a package, you can cancel for a full refund within the cancellation policy guidelines. Usually 30-days prior to arrival, or 5-days prior to arrival, depending on your package type.

How to Find Discounted Walt Disney World Tickets

cinderella-castle-night

If you're traveling to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida this summer and looking to save money on Theme Park tickets, you have a few options. Retailers like Sam's Club, Costco, AAA, and BJ's Wholesale often have discount tickets available.

Also try a trusted ticket wholesaler like Undercover Tourist, a company that is authorized by Disney to sell tickets for less. They usually purchase large quantities of tickets from Disney which results in a lower price. The wholesaler then passes the savings on to you.

Read about more ways to save and view current ticket offers on Disney World tickets on my Ticket Page

Customers who book a room and ticket package with Magical Vacations Travel can save on Theme Park tickets when booking an Agency-Exclusive Offer.

Ticket Scams:

Never purchase tickets from sites like Ebay, Craigslist, or from any agent that is not an authorized ticket seller.

Discount Tickets Through a Time Share Sales Pitch?

Yes, there are numerous offers from some time-share companies that promise discounted or even complimentary Disney World tickets in exchange for your participation in a sales pitch. These offers are usually held in Orlando and are probably legitimate. However people have reported that the seminars are very high pressure and take much longer than expected. And of course they save the best part for last - handing over your tickets.

How The New Tickets Work + Pricing

I recently posted news about a possible increase in Walt Disney World ticket prices and a new tiered ticket system. This is now official.

Seasonal pricing for a 1-Day Walt Disney World ticket and price increases for multi-day tickets will go into effect at Disney Parks Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016.

How will it work?

Each month is divided into value, regular and peak days with an 8-11 month calendar available for viewing online. Here’s an example, if you plan a visit for September, you will have a variety of options, including many days in the value period, which will give you the opportunity to pay less for a 1-Day ticket. If you plan to visit during a peak period, like the winter holidays you will pay more. Purchasing a 1-Day ticket in a non-peak period, or choosing multi-day ticket and annual passes, will provide additional flexibility and value.

Ticket Calendar

You can choose from 3 types of 1-Day Theme Park Tickets. Tickets are available for Peak, Regular and Value seasons. Click here to view Peak, Regular and Value dates. 1-Day Theme Park Tickets will expire on December 31 of the year following purchase. View the 2016 Walt Disney Ticket Rates

  • Park Hopper Option

Come and go as you please through all four Walt Disney World Theme Parks (Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park) on the same day for each day of your ticket.

  • Water Park Fun & More Option

Two Disney Water Parks,  Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park or Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park.

Expiration of Tickets

In addition, although in the past 1-Day tickets for Walt Disney World Resort did not expire, 1-Day tickets sold on or after Sunday, Feb. 28 for Walt Disney World Resort will expire at the end of the next calendar year. For example, 1-day tickets sold in 2016 will expire on Dec. 31, 2017. The amount paid for an unused, expired ticket may be applied towards the purchase of a new ticket at the current price.

New Tiered Tickets for Walt Disney World?

While I don't usually promote rumors here at Save At Walt Disney World, this one in particular has the ability to impact Disney travel in a significant way. It's rumored that a tiered ticket system will soon be in place for Walt DIsney World resort. Something that could be in place as soon as Sunday, February 28, 2016.

UPDATE Feb 28, 2016: New Walt Disney World Tiered Tickets are Official

Tiered Tickets Coming to Walt Disney World?

Tiered Tickets Coming to Walt Disney World?

Why This Could Be More Than a Rumor

TouringPlans.com has sent out reminders this week that based on historical data, Disney World is due to raise prices any day now. There have also been rumors of Cast Members attending training sessions last week on a new ticket media that could be introduced at the Theme Parks. In short, the timing would be right if Disney were to introduce this now.

In the fall Disney introduced a tiered system for Walt Disney World Annual Passes.

I personally have received three surveys from the Walt Disney World Resort following trips in August, September and December. The survey presented me with several hypothetical ticket types and asked for input on each. The hypotheticals were a based on a tiered system for different days of the week and for different rate seasons throughout the year.

What Should You Do Now?

Very simple, don't wait to buy your tickets. If you are planning a trip to Walt Disney World Resort in 2016 or beyond, I would recommend purchasing your tickets as soon as possible. While I have no specific details on pricing or tiers, I am almost positive that ticket prices will increase, not decrease. And if Disney does roll out a new ticket type, I expect Disney will honor older tickets as they have done in the past.
