Disney's Art of Animation Resort
This Disney Value Resort allows you to feel like a character in your favorite Disney and Disney•Pixar stories. In addition to Standard Rooms, Family Suites offer the room families need to spread out in comfort. With four playful courtyards and animation-inspired décor, Guests will be surrounded by magic like never before.
Disney's Art of Animation Resort is one of Disney's newest hotels. It was originally planned to be the second phase of Disney's Pop Century Resort but that never came to fruition. The buildings sat abandoned for many years until Disney had the idea for value priced family suites. The suites are well themed and the Little Mermaid Standard Rooms are among the quickest rooms to sell out.
The problem with Art of Animation is that it's expensive. A Family Suite here costs more than the Disney Moderate Resorts and yet has fewer amenities. In some cases, a Deluxe Resort that can sleep 5 is not that much more and comes with better amenities and a closer proximity to the Theme Parks.
Each of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort buildings have Character themed rooms designed to make you feel like you are a character in one of four beloved animated films. Family Suites (inspired by Disney•Pixar’s Finding Nemo, Disney•Pixar’s Cars and The Lion King) sleep up to six and feature three sleeping areas, two bathrooms and a kitchenette.
The master bedroom has 1 queen size bed and a double-size sleeper sofa in the living room. There's also a double-size murphy bed that can be converted into a dining table as well.
The kitchenette leaves a lot to be desired. It's a plastic work station with a mini-fridge on the bottom, a microwave on top, and a tiny sink. Every room at Walt Disney World has a mini-fridge and microwaves can be requested at no extra cost. It would have been better to make the kitchenette stand out a little more.
Standard Rooms (inspired by The Little Mermaid) sleep up to four Guests plus one child under age 3 in a crib. These rooms sell out months in advance. It's worth noting that they are extremely far from the and lobby and transportation.
When booking a Family Suite at Disney's Art of Animation Resort, be sure to specify the theme you want. If you leave it undefined, you will likely get the Lion King section - this building is far from the lobby and transportation and does not it's own pool.
There are 3 pools at Disney's Art of Animation Resort, each near one of the themed areas. The Lion King area does not have a pool nearby, it offers a well-themed playground instead.
There is no table service restaurant at Disney's Art of Animation Resort but the food court is sufficiently big enough to handle big crowds. There's also a focus on healthy, fresh options. Clearly the best food court at the Value Resorts.
Room service is not available but pizza delivery from Disney is an option but it's going to be the worst pizza you've ever had.
