A complete guide to finding discounts on Universal Orlando tickets

Tickets from Costco, BJ’s and Sam’s Club

If you have a wholesale club membership you might be able to get discounts on Universal Orlando Theme Park tickets right at the store. Some locations might only offer discounted tickets with a room and ticket package.

AAA Member Discounts

If you’re an American Automobile Association (AAA) member you’ll likely find discounted Universal and Islands of Adventure Theme Park tickets at your local branch. Many branches have discounted tickets on sale on their website too. They might offer different rates online than the branch or charge for shipping. Rates and options vary by AAA branch so you might want to try different regions.

The AAA South region (serving Georgia, Tennessee and Florida) has decent discounts and they're available to all AAA members. You’ll need to go directly to a local branch to purchase your tickets. If you are in the Orlando area and wish to visit a AAA South branch, the nearest office is about 10 minutes from Universal,  off I-4 at Exit 74A. Address: 7339 West Sand Lake Road, Orlando, FL 32819 (407) 351-5610.

You can take advantage of AAA multi-day discounts on tickets at the gate. Discounts are good for up to six people per membership card. The most commonly offered discount is $5 off a 3-day Park to Park ticket and $4 off a 2-day Park-to-Park ticket - for both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.

Credit Card Perks and Miles

Check with your credit card company to see if they offer discounts on Universal tickets. Many offer a redemption option for Theme Park tickets including American Express Membership Rewards, Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards, Hilton HHonors Points, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Chase Sapphire Preferred and Citi ThankYou Rewards to name a few.

Military Discounts

Active military personnel can purchase discounted tickets directly through their base. Tickets are also sold at Shades of Green Resort at Walt Disney World. Room and ticket package discounts are often available through the base as well.

Employer discounts

Some corporations have discount tickets available for their employees, check with your HR office to see if they have a program available. Companies like American Express, Budget Rent a Car,  Macy's, Nestle, and Coca-Cola are corporate partners with Universal and may have discounts available to employees.

Coke, the official soft-drink of Universal, will sometimes run promotions at various times of the year. We've seen discounts for Halloween Horror Nights, general admission savings such as $15 off the gate admission price, and Florida Resident Annual Pass offers. These offers usually require you to bring a Coke can with you to the gate in order to get the discount. Check the Coca-Cola page on the Universal website for current offers.

Transportation to Universal Resort

from Walt Disney World

The best option is to use a ride share service like Uber or Lyft. Read the Uber and Lyft Frequently Asked Page for more information.

The next best option would be to rent a car from one of the Alamo Rent a Car locations on Walt Disney World property. Alamo offers a free shuttle to/from Walt Disney World Resort hotels.

Taking a taxi from Walt Disney World to Universal is easy but a more costly option. Depending on traffic, which can be very heavy, fares typically range in $30 - $50 each way. Cabs are readily available at the Disney Resort hotels and at the Universal Theme Parks. Mears Transportation has a Taxi Fare Estimator that will give you a general idea but it does not account for traffic conditions.

Shared shuttles are the most economical transportation option between Universal and Disney, but it’s the “slow boat to China" as they make multiple stops at different hotels along the way. Fares usually include tolls and other surcharges. Mears Transportation is one of the largest providers of shuttles in the area - they will provide an estimate online or over the phone.
