Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort
This Disney Deluxe Resort and Disney Deluxe Villa Resort celebrates the grandeur of the glorious national parks of America’s great Northwest.
This resort is under refurbishment and expansion through late 2017
Disney'S Wilderness Lodge Resort
The 728 Standard Rooms sleep up to 4 people plus one child under age 3 in a crib. Rates increase for Woods View, Courtyard View and Club Level. Note that there is little difference between Woods View and Standard View so it's generally not worth the additional cost. Courtyard View can be noisy, especially in the afternoon when there is pool-side entertainment happening.
Wilderness Lodge also offers bunk bed rooms. These rooms come with 1 queen bed and a bunk bed. Disney's Ft. Wilderness Cabins and Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge also offer bunk bed rooms.
Deluxe Rooms are technically Junior Suites and can sleep up to 6 guests plus one child under age 3 in a crib. They have 2 queen beds and 1 sleeper sofa and also come with Club Level access. Some Deluxe Rooms are not on the Club Level floor.
Pools and dining
The pool was recently refurbished and a fun water playscape was added for children. The pool has one of the best themes on property even it is on the small side. It's designed to feel as though it's a natural spring and ties in perfectly with the woodsy feel of this resort. There is also a second, smaller pool near the Boulder Ridge section of the resort which is sometimes less crowded.
Dining at Wilderness Lodge is terrific! Whispering Canyon Cafe, the signature dish is a family style, all-you-can-eat Family Platter of barbecue meats and chicken. Artist Point, a Disney Signature restaurant serves fine food with Pacific Northwest flavors. The ambience is rustic yet elegant and offers views of the courtyard. For quick service dining there's Roaring Fork - standard Disney fare. Gets very busy in the morning. As part of the refurbishment, Geyser Point Bar and Grill has been added to the lakefront. Great bar but Disney needs to work on the food quality a little here.
Location and Transportation
Disney's Wilderness Lodge is located in the Magic Kingdom area of Walt Disney World Disney provides frequent buses to the Magic Kingdom to compensate for not being on the monorail. Boat transportation to the Magic Kingdom is also offered. The bus is generally faster unless you have a room close to the boat dock. Boat transportation is also avaialble to Disney's Contemporary Resort and Disney's Ft. Wilderness Campground.
Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge
Formally known as The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, this section of the resort is located in a separate building just to the right of hotel. Not to be confused with Copper Creek Villas - yet another villa-style accommodation at Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort. Boulder Ridge Villas share the same facilities as Wilderness Lodge Resort but are part of the Disney Vacation Club. Villas are often available to non-members.
