Tour Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort has just become my favorite Moderate resort and not just because of Gran Destino Tower, but as a whole.

Grand Destino Tower at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort | Walt Disney World

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort - Gran Destino Tower

Gran Destino Tower has all the characteristics of a Disney Deluxe hotel, but at Moderate resort prices. Club Level here is a bargain, it’s about 50% cheaper than Club Level at the Polynesian or Beach Club and just as nice.

Transportation

Disney has made several improvements to the roadways surrounding Coronado Springs Resort. Of course, it has always been close to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but with a new entrance to World Drive, Coronado has faster access to Epcot and Magic Kingdom Park.

What makes Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort different from other Moderate hotels:

  • Rooms in the original section of the resort have central air. Other Moderate resorts have window units.

  • It’s the only Moderate Resort to offer Club-Level services. Guests who book a Club Level room can visit the Chronos Club, a bright, comfortable lounge where they can relax and enjoy light refreshments throughout the day or take advantage of vacation-planning services.

  • Peloton Fitness Center. Coronado is the only Moderate Resort to have a gym on site.

  • Rooms throughout the resort have upgraded softgoods.

  • Numerous dining and lounge options from casual to upscale.

  • Rooms in Gran Destino Tower do not have bathtubs, but they do have rain showers with excellent water pressure. Rooms in the original section of the resort do have bathtubs.

  • Tower rooms have interior hallways. Other Moderates have exterior hallways.

  • New arrival and reception experience featuring a modern two-story lobby. Plenty of comfortable seating to gather with friends / family or to get some work done.

  • Offers an upscale yet casual rooftop restaurant, Tolédo – Tapas, Steaks and Seafood.

Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando at Walt Disney World

As an Official Walt Disney World Hotel, this upscale property features amenities that are on par with Disney World Deluxe Resorts like spacious rooms, convenient transportation, a family-friendly pool and splash pad, scenic views, and a fitness center.

Drury Plaza Orlando Review

The Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando is located within the Disney Springs Resort Area, on Disney World property, in Lake Buena Vista. It opened on December 7, 2022, on the site of the form Best Western Hotel complex.

As an Official Walt Disney World Hotel, this upscale property features amenities that are on par with Disney World Deluxe Resorts like spacious rooms, convenient transportation, a family-friendly pool and splash pad, scenic views, and a fitness center.

Can you walk from the Drury Plaza to Disney Springs? Yes! The Drury is located about .5 miles, or about a 10-minute walk from Disney Springs.

How far is the walk from Drury hotel from to Disney Springs? It’s about a 1/2 mile, or 10 minute walk.

The Drury’s new tower was completed in the spring of 2023 for a total of 604 guest rooms and 78 two-room suites.

The Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando located within the Disney Springs Resort Area also has 17,000+ square feet of meeting and event space for up to 250 people.

Arrival and Lobby Areas

I arrived by car and found plenty of parking, self-parking is $25 per night.

This is typical for the hotels in Disney Springs, they charge between $20 and $30 per night to park.

Drury Plaza Hotel Disney Springs Review

The lobby is bright and modern, and a well-staffed check-in desk.

Drury Plaza Hotel Disney Springs Review

There’s plenty of seating in the lobby so you can get some work done, and enjoy a snack from the hotel’s grab-and-go pantry or the Kitchen + Bar lounge, both are located close to the lobby.

Drury Plaza Hotel - Walt Disney World - Disney Springs Review

The Marketplace has snacks, Starbucks coffee, cold beverages, and even a Pizza Hut Express.

At first, I thought this was where the complimentary breakfast and evening snacks were served because the lobby is so spacious.

But later found out that there’s an entire section dedicated to this on the second floor, but more on that in a moment.

Drury Plaza Orlando at Disney Springs - video arcade

Just off the lobby, there’s a fully equipped video arcade for the kids and a nearby complimentary coffee stand for adults.

Room Categories

After some exploring of the lobby and amenities, it was time to check out the room.

Check-in is a 4 pm but you can enter a request with your reservation for early check-in.

This is a complimentary service and you may be able to get your room assignment as early as 10 am.

Early check-in isn’t guaranteed, however, but the hotel told me they will contact you the day before if they are unable to accommodate an early check-in for you.

When you make your reservation, be sure to let your travel agent know what time you expect to arrive at the Drury.

If your room isn’t ready when you arrive, you are welcome to use the pool and head off to a theme park or Disney Springs.

There are a number of room categories at the Drury Plaza Hotel. The most common are standard rooms with 1 king or 2 queen bed arrangements and family suites.

drury-plaza-hotel-disney-springs - standard room

Drury Plaza Hotel - Standard Room

Standard rooms come with and without terraces.

I recommend a terrace room as long as you're not afraid of heights (because this is a tower hotel).

The terrace rooms offer spectacular views of the Disney Springs area, and the terrace rooms are a little bigger.

Some guests shared with me that they are able to see Disney fireworks from their balcony, but I did not have that view myself.

drury-plaza-hotel-disney-springs 2 room suite

Drury Plaza Hotel - Family Suite

If you need more room, the spacious, two-room suite features a bedroom, separate from the living area, as well as a pull-out queen sofa sleeper for additional guests.

The Queen suite sleeps up to six people. The King suite sleeps up to five.

There are no hidden resort fees at the Drury.

Many of the Disney Springs Area hotels, including the Swan and Dolphin in the Epcot Resort Area love to nickel and dime you with hidden resort fees, so it’s nice to see Drury isn’t playing that game with its guests.

Drury Plaza Hotel Room Rates

Nightly room rates at Drury Plaza Hotel are similar to the Disney World value hotels like Disney’s All Stars Resort and Disney’s Pop Century Resort, so rates are between $150 and $200 per night depending on the time of year.

I like to book this hotel through Disney, specifically a Walt Disney World Travel Company Package because the room and tickets are included with a $200 deposit.

With a Disney World vacation package, your deposit is fully refundable up to 30 days prior to arrival.

Without the package, you’ll need to purchase your tickets separately, pay for them in full, and they are non-refundable.

And from a technology point of view, Disney’s glitchy mobile app works a lot better when you link a Walt Disney package reservation number rather than trying to link a Disney Springs resort reservation number.

Room Amenities

In-room amenities include a 55” smart flat screen television, mini refrigerator, microwave, alarm clock with Bluetooth and charging station, executive workspaces, and in-room safe.

Drury Plaza Orlando room amenities

Hotel Services

The Drury Plaza Hotel participates in Morning Extra Magic hours just like the Walt Disney World hotels.

Dury Plaza Hotel participates in Morning Extra Magic Hours at Walt Disney World

This means you’ll be able to enter the Disney theme parks before they open to the public.

Drury Plaza hotel in Orlando - fitness center | Gym

The fitness center is amazing - this is a value-priced hotel but it has a better gym than Disney’s Contemporary Resort! And comparably priced Disney hotels don’t even have a fitness center.

Drury’s gym has treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, weights and more.

Drury Plaza Hotel Orlando - Laundry Room

Onsite guest laundry is available 24 hours in the laundry room located on the 2nd floor.

Detergent can be purchased in The Market Place located in the lobby.

One thing I’m not a fan of is that housekeeping is only offered once per week.

And this is not exclusive to the Drury - it’s a growing problem across the hotel industry.

I get that I might not need new towels every day and new bed sheets, but isn’t it part of the hotel experience to have the bed made for you and the trash can emptied?

Why do hotels assume we don’t mind overflowing trash cans and messy beds?

But if you would like to request housekeeping, during your stay, just contact the front desk for options.

Pool and recreation

Just off the lobby, there’s an outdoor resort-style pool complex. There’s a salt-water feature pool, whirlpool, and a splash pad for little ones.

Drury-Plaza-Disney-Springs-Pool
Drury-Plaza-Disney-Springs-Pool

Lounge chairs and a few cabanas are available poolside as well.

Dining Options

One of my favorite things about the Drury Plaza is that each morning a complimentary breakfast is served in The Commons, a large space located on the second floor with great views.

And I’m not talking about pre-packaged bagels here. I mean an actual breakfast buffet including a pancake bar, eggs, breakfast potatoes, sausage, a cereal bar, and fruit.

Coffee, juice, and soft drinks are also complimentary.

Drury-Plaza-Disney-Springs-free breakfast
Free Breakfast and Dinner at the Drury Plaza Hotel in Disney Springs

Between 4 pm and 8 pm, free popcorn and soft drinks are served on the second floor in The Commons and from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, the Drury offers hot appetizers and snacks.

Complimentary coffee, juice, and soft drinks are available as well. This is a terrific benefit.

If you were to get these perks at a Disney World-owned hotel, you’d need to stay in a Club Level category room and the nightly rate would be hundreds of dollars more per night.

Disney’s Value hotels do not serve a complimentary breakfast so this is another great perk of the Drury.

Drury Plaza Orlando Disney Springs Dining

The Kitchen + Bar is located in the lobby and offers quick, casual meals from 5 pm to 12 pm.

Drury-Plaza-Disney-Springs-Orlando-Pool Bar
Drury-Plaza-Disney-Springs-Orlando-pool-bar

Lakeside Bar and Grill is a full-service restaurant bar located right next to the pool.

It has seating in the shade or in the sun, tables or lounge furniture - whichever you prefer.

Theme Park Transportation

Complimentary transportation is provided to each of the Walt Disney World theme parks and water parks.

I recommend that you make a reservation for the buses when you check in so that you’re guaranteed a spot.

Buses run frequently and on a set schedule which changes monthly. Current schedules will be available in the lobby and online.

They run frequently so you won’t have to alter your schedule too much to catch the bus.

During our visit in July, they were running every hour.

When traveling to Magic Kingdom, the bus will drop-off and pick-up a the Ticket and Transportation Center. From there you can take a monorail or ferry to Magic Kingdom.

Disney Springs is within walking distance and located about a half-mile away. Walking at an average pace, you’ll be there in about 10 minutes.

There’s a sidewalk leading directly to Disney Springs and it’s located on the same side of the street, so you won’t have to cross Hotel Plaza Blvd. which is a very busy roadway.

Best Rooms at Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter Resort

Easy guide to the best rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort

In this guide to the best rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort French Quarter I’ll cover the various room categories that are offered, where you can find them, plus answer some frequently asked questions that I get as a Disney travel advisor.

Screen Shot 2021-07-29 at 7.40.59 AM.png

At just 1,000 guest rooms, Port Orleans French Quarter is the smallest resort at Walt Disney World. To put this into perspective:

  • Port Orleans Riverside has 3,000 rooms

  • Coronado Springs has nearly 2,000 rooms

  • Caribbean Beach has just over 1,500 rooms

Smaller means less crowds and shorter walks to hotel amenities like the pool and dining.

Port Orleans French Quarter is one of the best kept secrets at Walt Disney World because:

  • it’s centrally located on Disney World property

  • dining, pool, lobby and bus depot are all a short walk

Transportation to and from the theme parks doesn’t get any easier. This is the only Moderate hotel to have just one bus stop.

Port Orleans French Quarter is technically in the Disney Springs Resort Area but it’s located right behind Epcot. Magic Kingdom is less than 10 minutes away by bus.

Bus-Stop-Disneys-Port-Orleans-French-Quarter-Resort-from-yourfirstvisit.net_.jpg

Complimentary boat service is provided to and from Disney Springs along the scenic Sassagoula River.

disney-port-orleans-riverside-water-taxi-in-front-stately-mansions-960.jpg

Best Rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter

There are 7 buildings at Port Orleans French Quarter, each with 3 stories. All have exterior corridors.

Screen Shot 2021-07-29 at 7.39.52 AM.png

Rooms are about 315 square feet and include 2 queen beds, a small table with 2 chairs, a split bath, and a mini-fridge.

POFQ rooms sleep a maximum of 4 guests, rollaway beds are not offered. If you have a 5 guests, look into Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside or Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort as these resorts offer a 5th sleeper option.

What are the room categories at Port Orleans French Quarter?

  • Garden View

  • King Bed Room

  • Pool View (Buildings 2 and 5)

  • River View (Buildings 1, 2, 5, 6, 7)

  • Standard View (Buildings 1, 3, 4, 7)

Standard View is the most economical room followed by Garden View. The difference between Standard View and Garden View is minimal and they are often used interchangeably and most guests wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

Where are the Standard View Rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort?

Standard View rooms are in buildings 1, 3, 4 and 7.

Garden View rooms can be found throughout the resort, in all buildings. The same is true for King Bed rooms.

River View Rooms are located in the buildings along the Sassagoula River in Buildings 1, 2, 5, 6, 7. Boats going to Port Orleans Riverside and Disney Springs pass by frequently. River View rooms in Building 2 might have noise intrusion from the boat horns.

Where You’ll Find Peace and Quiet

If you’re looking for a for a quiet room location, book a Standard View or Garden View room and request buildings 1 and 7. These buildings will have less people walking by and you’re far enough from the DJ playing music at the pool.

I will often request a 2nd or 3rd floor room for my clients when they are looking for quiet and/or privacy. Rooms on the upper floors won’t have as many people passing by.

Screen Shot 2021-07-29 at 7.40.08 AM.png

Most Convenient Rooms at Port Orleans French Quarter

If you wish to be close to the lobby, dining and bus stop, book a Standard or Garden room and request Buildings 3 and 4.

3880751625_619f34848b_b.jpg

Are there Preferred rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter?

Preferred Rooms are not offered at POFQ. Pool View would be comparable to Preferred View because your room will be right behind the lobby and transportation depot.

Does Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter have elevators?

Yes. Elevators are available in each building.

How to Make a Room Request at POFQ

Disney will not guarantee room requests but Cast Members at the hotel do try hard to honor them.

If you want help making room your requests, start planning with me today, because I have a few strategies that I have learned over the years that may increase your chances of having your request honored. My client’s requests are honored about 80% of the time.

TIP: The best way to increase your chances is to make your request practical and within the category you booked. For example, don’t book a Standard View room and make a request for a room overlooking the river. River View rooms are a bookable category and they cost more than Standard View. Disney probably won’t won’t honor a complimentary upgrade request.

Contact me now so you can get the most out of your stay at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort! I have plenty of great advice, recommendations and even exclusive offers!

Walt Disney World's Secret Restaurant

The secret restaurant you'll likely never get to see at Walt Disney World Resort

Here's a Disney secret...There's a hidden restaurant at Walt Disney World that you'll likely never see. The former Bonfamille’s Café, a defunct table service restaurant, located just off the lobby behind the Scat Cat's Club at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter, closed for good in 2001. Since then, the restaurant has served as meeting space for Walt Disney World management. It's facilities are frequently used as the Walt Disney World test kitchen where new culinary creations are concocted. It most recently opened as a temporary quick service restaurant while Sassagoula Floatworks gets an extensive refurbishment (I hope they don't put the giant face masks back up!) The refurb. is scheduled to conclude in December 2016 so there's still time to go check this hidden gem out.

Easy guide to having groceries delivered to Disney World

How much money can you save with Instacart?

How about this: you can buy an entire case of water from Costco, purchased through Instacart, for the same price as 1 bottle of water from inside the Disney World theme parks!

Did you know you don’t even need to be a member of Costco when you shop though Instacart?

1 bottle of water inside the Disney World theme parks costs more than an entire case of water from Costco.

USING INSTACART AT DISNEY WORLD

Instacart delivers groceries, alcohol and even household items to your Disney World hotel almost immediately after ordering.

You can shop stores like

Organic grocery delivery is also available through Instacart.

TIP: You do not have to be a member of Costco or BJ’s when shopping through Instacart.

How does Instacart work at Disney World?

After you create your shopping list, either on the website or mobile app, a personal shopper will be dispatched to the store(s) you selected.

They are happy to run around, picking up all the items on your list for you, even at multiple stores. Remember, tipping is greatly appreciated.

What does Instacart cost in Orlando?

You may notice that some items cost more than if you were shopping in person but special offers are sometimes available.

Look for buy-one-get-one-free deals and numerous manufacturer coupons, Instacart will let you know if discounts are available as you shop!

In-store deals will not be available, however.

Delivery fees explained

Instacart delivery starts at $3.99 for same-day orders over $35. Fees vary for one-hour deliveries, club store deliveries, and deliveries under $35.

There are no hidden fees, you’ll see the delivery fee when you are choosing your delivery window.

Instacart Express members get free delivery on orders over $35 per retailer. Membership is $9.99 per month or annual membership, paid in full, for $99 for the year.

All orders must be at least $10 before being eligible for delivery. Instacart will deliver to all of the Walt Disney World hotels including off-property hotels, timeshare resorts and Universal Orlando hotels.

Substitutions and driver instructions

A nice feature that Instacart offers is the ability to leave instructions for your personal shopper.

You can let your shopper know that you’d prefer greener bananas—or tell them where in the hotel they should drop off your order.

If an item is unavailable you have 3 options:

  1. Allow your personal shopper to find the best match

  2. Manually select a replacement

  3. Omit the item from your order

You can set your preferences in your cart prior to placing the order.

USING AMAZON PRIME AT WALT DISNEY WORLD

Amazon Prime Now is included with your Amazon Prime membership so there’s no additional fee to Prime members.

Unlike Amazon Fresh, you don’t even have to sign up, Prime Now is ready to go right now!

All Walt Disney World hotels, including off-property hotels, are within Amazon Prime Now’s service area.

How does Amazon Prime Now work at Walt Disney World?

By using the Amazon Prime Now website or mobile app you’ll be able to search for grocery items and have them delivered in as little as 1-hour.

All of the Walt Disney World hotels are within the Prime Now service area and so are the nearby timeshare resorts and Universal Orlando hotels.

Saving money

In Orlando, Florida, orders will likely be fulfilled from Amazon’s warehouse and/or Whole Foods. Prices can be higher than Instacart, especially if your items are coming from Whole Foods.

Delivery fees explained

There's a fee for 1-hour delivery but 2-hour delivery is free. You can track your delivery to see when it will be arriving at your hotel.

There’s no extra cost for using Amazon Prime Now as long as you meet a $35 order minimum, otherwise, you’ll pay between $5 and $10 for delivery.

If you choose a one-hour delivery window, you’ll pay an additional $5 - $10 fee even if you’ve met the minimum amount required.

You can avoid this fee by choosing a two-hour delivery window.

Substitutions and driver instructions

With Prime Now, you’ll be able to select the items you’d like to be substituted or omitted in advance.

This way your personal shopper will know what to do if an item is unavailable.

In the event you forget to specify, your personal shopper will contact you to confirm any changes, usually by sending you a photo of the replacement option.

Amazon has a great inventory tracking system so the need for substitutions is rare.

Easy Guide to the Walt Disney World Monorail System

Where the Disney monorails go, frequently asked questions to riding the Disney World monorails, and even a few fun facts.

Walt Disney World monorails carry 50 million passengers a year, service 3 Walt Disney World hotels, two Disney theme parks and operate on 15 miles of track.

Oh and it’s the busiest monorail system in the world! Disney World monorails are also convenient, fast and fun to ride!

Here are a few tips and frequently asked questions about using the Walt Disney World monorails.

Monorails pass right through the lobby of Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Where do the Disney World monorails go?

The monorails begin their routes at a central terminal known as the Ticket and Transportation Center. You can get to all destinations from this station. This is also where the Magic Kingdom parking lot is located.

There are three Disney monorail lines

  • Resort Monorail with service to Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.

  • Express Monorail offers direct service between the Ticket and Transportation Center and Magic Kingdom Park (does not stop at hotels).

  • Epcot Monorail offers direct service between the Ticket and Transportation Center and Epcot.

Which Disney World hotels are on the monorail?

There are three Deluxe Resorts that offer monorail service to Magic Kingdom and Epcot:

Monorail Red passing through Epcot

Monorail Red passing through Epcot

How do I get from Magic Kingdom to Epcot by monorail?

Take the Express Monorail to the Ticket and Transportation Center. Here you’ll transfer to the Epcot line. There are signs directing you where to go at each station. Cast Members are also available to assist.

What are the Disney World monorail hours of operation?

The Walt Disney World Monorail System operating times vary, depending on expected crowd levels and park hours. Typically monorails will start running 30 minutes prior to the earliest park opening until one hour after the latest park closing. I would not rely on the monorails to make an early morning dining reservation, consider driving or using Uber or Lyft.

Can I bring a stroller/wheelchair/scooter on the Disney World monorails?

Yes, and in most cases, strollers do not need to be folded. This is very convenient if your little one is sleeping in the stroller! A Cast Member will assist you in boarding the monorail if you have a medical stroller, wheelchair, or scooter.

Is it free to ride the monorail?

There is no charge nor is a ticket required to ride the Walt Disney World monorails.

How often do the monorails arrive at the resort stations?

Monorails arrive every 5-8 minutes.

How long does it take to get to the Magic Kingdom by monorail?

  • Disney’s Contemporary Resort - about 20 minutes. Even though Disney’s Contemporary Resort is the closest hotel to Magic Kingdom, the monorail has to make a full run from this point. Consider walking to the Magic Kingdom, it takes less than 10 minutes. On your way back to the hotel, take the monorail, you’ll be the first stop.

  • Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort - about 10 minutes.

  • Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort - about 3 minutes. When leaving Magic Kingdom, consider walking back instead, it could be faster. If you board the monorail at Magic Kingdom, the Grand Floridian will be the last stop.

Which is the most convenient hotel at Walt Disney world?

Disney’s Polynesian Resort is the most convenient because you have easy access to both Magic Kingdom and Epcot by monorail. To board from Epcot monorail from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, simply walk to the nearby Ticket and Transportation Center station. Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian are also convenient to Magic Kingdom and Epcot, but you’ll need to take the monorail to the Ticket and Transportation Center and transfer.

I’m worried about getting lost. will there be anyone to help me?

Yes, Cast Members are present at each station. Keep in mind this is not the New York City Subway System by any means. If at any time you feel lost or unsure of the route, there are Disney employees at each station who are happy to assist you. Disney does a great job with directional signage at each station. These are not commuter lines, the Walt Disney World Monorail System was built for visitors.

If you have a specific question about using the Walt Disney World monorail, feel free to contact me.

Disney's Polynesian Village Resort

Take a tour of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney World. Here you’ll be immersed in the spirit of the South Pacific with tropical palm trees, lush vegetation and torch-lit pathways. In this tour, we go inside guest rooms, restaurant at the Polynesian and the Great Ceremonial House. Get insider planning advice and more ▸

At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort you’ll be immersed in the spirit of the South Pacific with tropical palm trees, lush vegetation and torch-lit pathways.

Disney's Polynesian Village Resort at Night

While technically Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is the flagship hotel at Walt Disney World, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort has been the most popular hotel since it opened in 1971. Even a few unofficial fan clubs have been created.

Dining, shopping, hotel check in and the monorail are all located in the The Great Ceremonial House, the main building within the resort.

Its nearly 500 guest rooms are located inside several, 3-story outer buildings called longhouses. The furthest is an 8 minute walk from The Great Ceremonial House.

Exterior pathways lead to the different buildings. Hotel rooms are accessed through interior hallways.

This 40-acre resort sits directly across from Magic Kingdom Park on the man-made Seven Seas Lagoon, just minutes away by monorail or by boat.

The Magic Kingdom monorail stops at the lobby of the Polynesian and the Epcot monorail line is within walking distance.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Rooms

Ground floor rooms have patios, third floor rooms have covered balconies.

Most of the resort’s second floor rooms do not have full balconies. Instead they have a sliding door that opens to outside but it is not possible to actually stand outside.

My clients will often ask me to request a first floor or third floor room so they have the option of going outside.

For assistance with making room requests, plus other insider advice on planning your Walt Disney World vacation, contact me here to get started!

Most guest rooms have the same configuration: 2 queen beds and a twin-size daybed.

Suites and Club Level rooms are available as well.

Like most Disney World hotels, the nightly rate depends largely by the view from your room and/or the room location. Disney charges more for premium views and/or more convenient room locations.

At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort there are 6 main room categories:

  • Standard View - Views of gardens, walkways, or monorail.

  • Lagoon View - Views of the the Seven Seas Lagoon. Some rooms may have an obstructed view of Magic Kingdom.

  • Pool or Marina View - Rooms that overlook one of the two pools or a room overlooking the marina on the Seven Seas Lagoon. There isn’t much of a marina these days compared to years ago, but Disney still uses it to dock a few boats.

  • Theme Park View - Views of the distant Magic Kingdom Park. Most rooms have views of the nightly fireworks and the Seven Seas Lagoon.

  • Club Level - There are multiple views to choose from within the Club Level category such as Theme Park View and Garden View. These are standard rooms but include access to a lounge where breakfast and snacks are served daily.

  • Deluxe Studio - Views of the lagoon, landscaping or parking areas. These spacious rooms have a kitchenette with a microwave, toaster, mini-fridge, paper plates, bowls, and plastic utensils. They have 1 Queen Bed, 1 Queen-Size murphy bed that doubles as a sofa, and 1 Single pull-down bed. Sleeps up to 5 adults

How Much Does Disney’s Polynesian Resort Cost?

Rates vary by day of the week, time of year and room view. Friday and Saturday night stays cost a little more.

Rates are lower from late August through October and higher from February through April.

Holiday rates are in effect between Christmas and New Year’s Day, and the week immediately following Easter.

Approximate room rates at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

  • Standard View starting at $650/night

  • Pool or Marina View starting at $765/night

  • Lagoon View starts at $890/night

  • Theme Park View starts at $960/night

  • Garden View Club Level starts at $928/night

  • Theme Park View Club Level starts at $1025/night

  • Deluxe Studio starts at $655/night

Note that Garden View Club Level is less than a Theme Park View room. I advise my clients to book the Club Level room over the Theme Park View whenever possible. The value of Club Level outweighs the view of Magic Kingdom.

What is Club Level at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort?

Club Level rooms are not suites, they are standard rooms with 2 queen beds and 1 daybed, but they come with access to the King Kamehameha Club. Here you’ll have secured key access to the club-level lounge, where a continental breakfast and refreshments are served daily.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a place to do laundry at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort?

Yes, there is a laundry room on site. I recommend bringing your own detergent pods. The brand Disney sells isn’t very effective at removing stains.

Did the Beatles really break up at the Polynesian Village Resort?

Yes, John Lennon was staying at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort in December 1974. His lawyers brought him the official documents to sign that would officially dissolve The Beatles. While Disney will not confirm the exact room Lennon was staying in, it’s believed to be a Theme Park View room, most likely in the Samoa longhouse based on photos taken during Lennon’s vacation.

What time is check in at the Polynesian Resort?

Check-in is at 4pm. Online check-in is available through the Walt Disney World app. Check-out time is 11am.

Is there a map of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort?

Map of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort (click to enlarge)

What are the different buildings at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort?

  • Aotearoa - Close to the Great Ceremonial House, views of monorail or lagoon. 2nd floor rooms do not have balconies.

  • Fiji - Close to the Great Ceremonial House, far from the Epcot monorail. Overlooks marina or gardens. 2nd floor rooms do not have full balconies.

  • Hawaii - This is the Club Level building. Views of the lagoon, Magic Kingdom, or Gardens. 2nd floor rooms do not have full balconies.

  • Niue - Close to the Great Ceremonial House and pools. One of the most requested buildings at the Polynesian because of its convenient location. 2nd floor rooms do not have full balconies.

  • Rapa Nui - Deluxe Studios building. Close to the Epcot monorail station and quiet pool. Rooms on the north face gardens, south facing rooms have a parking lot view. 2nd floor rooms have full balconies.

  • Rarotonga - Close to Great Ceremonial House and pools. One of the most requested buildings because of its convenient location. Mostly standard view rooms here (gardens, quiet pool, or a distant parking area). 2nd floor rooms do not have full balconies.

  • Samoa - Mostly pool view rooms, very close to the Great Ceremonial house. Ground floor rooms have easy access to both pools. Can be noisy when pools are busy in the afternoon. 2nd floor rooms do not have full balconies.

  • Tahiti - Made up of Deluxe Studios, so no standard hotel rooms here. Studios are similar to standard rooms, and perhaps even more desirable. Very close to the Epcot monorail station, but it’s the furthest away from the Great Ceremonial House. 2nd floor rooms have full balconies.

  • Tonga - All of Polynesian’s suites are located here including the Presidential Suite and a Honeymoon Suite.

  • Tokelau - Another building made up of Deluxe Studios, so no standard hotel rooms here. Studios are similar, and perhaps even more desirable than standard rooms. Excellent location, between the Great Ceremonial House, pool and Epcot monorail station. 2nd floor rooms have full balconies.

  • Tuvalu - Has many rooms overlooking Magic Kingdom, in a quiet location. Far from the Epcot monorail, somewhat close to the Great Ceremonial House. 2nd floor rooms do not have full balconies.

AVERAGE NIGHTLY RATES FOR DISNEY WORLD HOTELS

What the Walt Disney World Resort hotels cost per night, on average.

There are several rate seasons that Disney World uses to determine the nightly cost of a hotel room, mostly based on demand.

It’s important to know that Disney World is price-controlled. Whether you book it yourself, through a travel agent, or even a travel wholesaler, the price is going to be the same for everyone.

See why booking with a Disney travel agent has better value

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Don’t stress over nightly rates

Every day I talk with clients who have these nightly rate charts from various websites - and they have gotten themselves so overwhelmed, they’re ready to give up. Don’t drive yourself crazy over this. In the end, Mickey gets your money anyway. And that’s ok! We want him to show us a good time.

The best way to simplify your Disney vacation is to book a Disney World package - with a travel agent who is going to bundle the room and tickets for you with one low, refundable deposit. Plus you’ll get professional advice along the way.

And when you book with me, I’ll price-watch your reservation, even after you book your vacation. If a better price or offer becomes available, I’ll make the change for you!

The average Disney World vacation package costs about $4,500. Keep in mind this is the average - some Disney vacations cost more, others cost less.

Think big picture when it comes to Disney packages

My point is this. Think big picture, and don’t become obsessed with individual nightly rates. There are too many variables that affect the price anyway.

For example, you might find a week with a lower hotel rate, but ticket prices cost more, or airfare is higher. It seems that if one vacation component is cheaper, the other costs more.

So don’t drive yourself crazy looking for the cheapest time to go. Instead, do this…

The best way to budget your Disney vacation:

  1. Decide on the time of year that you want to go. Traveling when you want has more value than saving a couple of bucks. If you don’t like heat and humidity, don’t come in August just to save a little money. That would be a poor value because you’re going to be uncomfortable.

  2. If price is your primary concern, avoid holiday weeks because they cost significantly more. Also, February, March, and April cost more because so many people want to visit Florida for spring break. Summer and fall cost less.

  3. Be realistic about the hotel category you can afford. If your package is coming out too high, try a different hotel category or try a Disney Good Neighbor [off-property] hotel. I have a list of great offsite hotels that still allow you to book Disney World packages.

Below you’ll find the average nightly rate for the Walt Disney World hotels.

This is provided to give you a general idea of cost but rates can be lower if there’s a hotel offer, or even higher if the dates fall near a holiday.

A travel agent can help you find a great time to go if saving money is your primary goal.

Guide to Homewood Suites at Flamingo Crossing | Walt Disney World

Tour Hilton’s Homewood Suites at Walt Disney World’s Flamingo Crossing

Homewood Suites Orlando at Flamingo Crossings

Resort Summary

Its official name is Homewood Suites by Hilton Orlando Flamingo Crossings but let’s agree to just call it Homewood Suites at Flamingo Crossings.

This hotel is located just outside the almost secret, western entrance to Walt Disney World.

Until recently, there was literally nothing located outside the western gate except for orange groves and an entrance ramp to Route 429.

But this area is rapidly being developed and will soon be a quaint little town complete with chain restaurants, retailers, hotels, and new housing developments, right in Disney World’s backyard.

Flamingo Crossings at Walt Disney World is also where you’ll find a massive housing complex for Disney World’s college and internship program.

Just one section of Disney World’s massive housing complex for interns.

Homewood Suites at Flamingo Crossing is a brand-new, upscale hotel property and is available to book as part of a Walt Disney World vacation package.

Arrival and Lobby Areas

The fist thing you’ll notice is that Homewood Suites at Flamingo Crossings has an upscale, Mediterranean theme with a brick-lined driveway, porte cochère, and plenty of palm trees.

Homewood is considered a budget-friendly hotel that offers a complimentary breakfast, two bars, a resort-style pool, and a Disney World planning desk in case you have any questions about your Disney vacation.

The lounge in lobby small but there are plenty of seats nearby next to a TV and fireplace.

Lounge and breakfast seating with TV fireplace. A larger TV would be better especially if you’re watching an big game.

Room Categories

There are 2 types of rooms at Homewood Suites:

  • Studios

  • 1-Bedroom Suites (2 queen or 1 king suites)

Homewood Suites at Flamingo Crossings offers guaranteed connecting rooms (subject to availability) so it’s possible to combine two 1-bedroom suites or two studios.

Suites are outfitted with fully equipped kitchens. Need groceries? There’s a Target grocery store within walking distance.

Room Rates

Homewood Suites is a Walt Disney World Gateway Hotel. This means you can book this hotel as part of a Disney World vacation package that includes room and tickets.

I recommend booking with Disney because you will have the option of getting a refund on your theme park tickets in you need to cancel your vacation. To learn more about the benefits of a vacation package, contact me now for a quote and additional information.

Nightly room rates for studios start around $110 per night and can go as high as $270 per night.

1-Bedroom suites range from about $129 to $289 per night.

Rates are higher during spring break (February, March, and April), the week of Easter and Christmas, and most weekends.

Room Amenities

Each suite is outfitted with fully equipped kitchens complete with

  • Microwave

  • Full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, twin-burner stove

  • Toaster

  • Coffee maker

  • Utensils

  • Place settings for four

  • ADA accessible rooms and facilities

Homewood Suites has fitness and business centers, an on-site 24-hour pantry and guest laundry.

How Homewood Suites compares to Disney World hotels

In terms of price, Homewood is comparable to the Walt Disney World Value Resorts such as Disney’s All-Stars Resort and Disney’s Pop Century Resort but when it comes to amenities, they are a closer match to Disney’s Villa Resorts.

This makes Homewood Suites quite a value because Disney’s 1 Bedroom Villas start at around $650 per night.

Disney’s hotels do not include a complimentary breakfast but they do have onsite dining. Homewood offers a free breakfast buffet but it does not have an onsite restaurant.

There are a number of restaurants within walking distance like 5 Guys Burgers, a barbecue restaurant, a Japanese BBQ restaurant, and 2 breweries. Homewood rooms also have kitchens.

You’ll find that transportation is more convenient at the Disney World hotels because they are closer to the parks and there are a number of complimentary transportation options at Disney such as buses, monorails, gondolas, and boats.

Disney hotels offer luggage assistance, Homewood has self-serve luggage. Both Disney and Homewood Suites offer luggage storage.

For example, if you plan to visit a park on your check out day, you can store your bags with the hotel.

Hotel Services

This hotel offers a self-service laundry room. There is no bell desk so you will need to handle your own luggage. Wifi is free in rooms and public guest areas.

The front desk is staffed 24 hours.

Housekeeping is by request only and includes a change of bed linens and towels.

See the Transportation section below for theme park shuttle information and airport transportation.

Pool and recreation

The pool, basketball court, and soccer field are located behind the hotel. The pool offers lounge seating, umbrellas, a water slide, and a pool bar.

  • Complimentary breakfast buffet

  • Complimentary evening reception on Wednesday

Theme Park Transportation, Parking and More

Covered self-parking is available in an attached parking garage for $10 per night or you can park in the outside parking lot for free.

This hotel is right outside the western gate to Walt Disney World, however, the drive to the theme parks will take about 15 minutes. The nearest Theme Park is Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

I recommend using Uber and Lyft to go to theme parks because it will be faster and you can come and go on your own schedule. Rideshares are likely going to be cheaper than the shuttle service. Ride share fares start around $12-$15 each way between Homewood and the Disney theme parks.

Homewood uses Main Gate Shuttle Service, an Orlando-based transportation company. The fare is $10 per person roundtrip. Reservations need to be made at the hotel’s planning center.

Homewood’s Disney Planning Center is located in the lobby.

Theme park shuttles usually come at 8:35 am and 10:50 am however the hotel staff will provide current pick-up times when you make your shuttle reservation.

The shuttle service has afternoon and evening pick-up times as well. Pick-up times will be arranged once you arrive at the hotel.

Airport transportation is not provided. I suggest Uber and Lyft.

5 Reasons You'll Love Disney's Port Orleans Riverside

What Make Port Orleans Riverside one of the most popular Disney World hotels.

There are a few hotels at Walt Disney World that are so popular, they have a dedicated fan following. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is one, Disney’s Beach Club Resort is another and of course Disney’s Port Orleans both Riverside and French Quarter.

So, why is Port Orleans Resort so popular? Here are the top 5 reasons my clients have shared with me about why they love staying here.

#5: IT’s TWO RESORTS IN ONE

Port Orleans Riverside is made up of 2 sections: “Alligator Bayou” and “Magnolia Bend.”

Alligator Bayou has a more rustic atmosphere with dense wooded areas and shaded walking paths.

Magnolia Bend buildings resemble large plantation homes with manicured gardens wide open spaces.

When booking your room reservation, you can enter a request to be in a particular section, but it is not possible to guarantee a room in Alligator Bayou or Magnolia Bend. Disney does try hard to honor requests, however.

Disney's Port Orleans Resort Riverside Tour

Photo Tour of Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort

Resort Summary

There are two sections to Port Orleans Resort Riverside. The stately white-column mansions of Magnolia Bend and Alligator Bayou’s quaint backwoods cottages. Both are located in a picturesque setting that evokes the romance of rural Louisiana.

The Sassagoula River connects Port Orleans Riverside to Disney Springs, Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort.

Arrival and Lobby Areas

Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside is a Moderate category hotel. Disney moderates have one central hub for dining, check in and bell services. Rooms are accessible via exterior corridors.

The design of lobby at Port Orleans Riverside is inspired by the classic riverboat terminals of the American south. Around the ceiling you’ll see names of the cities the steamboats travel to.

Online check in is a popular option these days, cutting down on the need to check in at the desk.

Using your Disney World mobile app, you can check in to Port Orleans Riverside in advance. You’ll receive a text message with your room number when it’s ready. Standard check in service is also available if you prefer.

Video Tour

Inside the lobby you’ll see a seating area, where passengers might wait for their steamboat (or Uber) to arrive. If you look closely at the richly polished wood floor and you’ll notice a beautiful compass rose inlay, made by hand.

Fresh floral arrangements are a staple in many of the Walt Disney World lobbies.

Room Categories

There are 2,050 rooms at Port Orleans Riverside located in 2 and 3 story buildings with exterior corridors.

The majority of rooms have 2 queen beds that can sleep up to 4 guests but there are several variations, including 5th sleeper rooms and Royal Rooms.

Many rooms have connecting doors. Requests for connecting doors cannot be guaranteed unless two rooms are booked with a parent in each room. Ask me how to arrange this for you when requesting your quote.

Port Orleans Riverside Room Categories

(in order of nightly rate, least to greatest)

  • Standard View

  • Standard View 5th Sleeper

  • Woods View

  • Woods View 5th Sleeper

  • Pool View (some have 5th sleepers. If you have a party of 5 and book Pool View, you will get a room with the 5th sleeper).

  • King Bed rooms

  • River View

  • Preferred Room (close to main lobby)

  • Royal Room - Standard View

  • Royal Room - River View

  • Royal Room - Woods View

Rooms have curtains that divide the vanity area from the rest of the room. There’s a door separating the water closet, bathtub and shower. This makes it possible for multiple people to get ready at the same time.

Pet Friendly Rooms

Port Orleans Riverside is a pet friendly hotel. Rooms designated as pet friendly are only used for guests who have pets. If you’re not traveling with a pet, you will not be assigned a pet friendly room. These rooms are also located in a designated area of the hotel complex.

Pets may also be boarded at the Best Friends Pet Care Center located across the street.

5th Sleeper Rooms

5th Sleeper rooms have the same layout as a standard room, either two queen beds or 1 king bed, and include a Murphy-style bed that folds down. The Murphy bed is ideal for children up to age 10.

Royal Rooms

Located in the Magnolia Bend section of the resort, Royal Rooms have a Disney Princess theme. These rooms are the furthest away from the lobby but Disney is hoping you love the theme so much, that you won’t mind the extra walk.

There is a bus depot nearby so it’s not necessary to walk to the lobby for transportation.

There are 2 sections to Port Orleans Riverside, Magnolia Bend and Alligator Bayou. While it’s not possible to select which section your room is located in, I am able to note requests on your reservation.

The biggest difference between the two sections is theme. Magnolia Bend represents the manor houses of deep south with manicured lawns and plantings. Buildings have 2 and 3 stories with exterior corridors.

Alligator Bayou is made up of 2-story, rustic lodges with with shady gardens and pathways.

Sneak Peek at the Newly Rethemed Rooms at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort

New Under the Sea rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort replace pirate rooms. Here’s a sneak peek.

Today I have a sneak peek at the new “under the sea” themed rooms, possibly inspired by “The Little Mermaid” at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort at Walt Disney World.

“Under the Sea” Themed Room at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Walt Disney world

Disney World leadership previously shared that the pirate-themed rooms in the Trinidad section of the resort would be refurbished and that subtle references to various Disney “under the sea” moments would be included in the new decor.

Disney posted photos of the new rooms on a Cast Member social media channel today.

The newly themed rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort have:

  • laminate flooring

  • a tropical color pallet

  • queen size pull down (murphy) bed

  • traditional queen size bed

  • child-size pull-down bed (suitable for most children up to age 9)

These rooms are not yet available to book. More on that soon. As of right now, it appears that at least some, if not all, of these rooms, will sleep 5 guests.

The former pirate rooms had two double size beds and had a capacity of 4 guests per room.

2023 Disney World Packages Now Available

You can now book a 2023 Walt Disney World vacation package, room-only reservation and order theme park tickets. Here are the updates for Walt Disney World in 2023

Starting today you can now book a 2023 Walt Disney World vacation package, room-only reservation and order theme park tickets.

While not much has changed in terms of offerings, there are a few updates to share.

Packages 500 Days Out

Packages can be booked 500 days out. For example, on June 8, you can book a Disney World package through October 21, 2023.

Pirate Rooms Will Walk the Plank in 2023

Pirate Room at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort

Pirate themed room at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

Pirate rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort are not being offered in 2023. No word yet on what will be happening with these rooms.

Pirate themed rooms are located in the remote Trinidad section of the resort. The idea was to give the least desirable rooms at the resort a pirate makeover, and hope that guests wouldn’t mind how far these rooms were from the lobby, pool, and dining.

While they were pretty neat, the beds were small - most rooms had 2 double size beds while standard rooms at the resort had 2 queen beds).

Pirate rooms also cost more than a standard room.

Things changed however when Disney Skyliner opened. The rooms in the Trinidad section suddenly became more desirable, because they are a short walk away.

Disney will likely re-theme the pirate rooms and likely charge a premium for them due their proximity to Disney Skyliner.

No Dining Plans in 2023

Last August I received an email from Disney with updates about Walt Disney World. It mentioned that the Disney Dining Plans would be returning “soon.”

The dining plans could return at any time, but I am surprised that they are not being offered in 2023 packages as of today.

King Bed Rooms at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts

Disney's Beach Club Resort - King Bed

King bed room at Disney’s Beach Club Resort

In 2023 you can now book a room with a king bed at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort. Previously rooms with kind beds were assigned based on the number of occupants and by making a room request.

Rooms with king beds are now an option in the Disney World booking engine.
